Flat-fee business law · Tempe, and all of Arizona by video

What happens to me if the business goes wrong?

Many new owners carry that question around for months. We are three lawyers in Tempe who answer it in plain words, set the business up so it holds, and name one flat fee before we start. Meet us on Mill Avenue, or by video from anywhere in the state.

Four places to start

The questions new owners bring us first

Each one has its own page: what we do about it, what it costs, and what you have in your hands at the end.

  • What happens to my name when I sign the lease?

Sign as yourself and the landlord can come after you. We form the company first so it signs, then show you the habits that keep your own money out of it.

    Starting the company
  • What happens if I sign what the customer sent?

You may be agreeing to their payment dates, their ownership of your work and their way out. We read it before you sign, mark what to change and write the terms you send.

    Contracts
  • What happens to my savings if I buy the shop?

You take on its lease, its debts and its promises along with its customers. We read what you would inherit and write the deal so you pay for what you get.

    Buying a business
  • What happens when I need a lawyer on a Tuesday?

On a monthly plan you send the question and hear back within one business day: a hiring form, a vendor’s notice, a lease renewal. One fee, every month.

    Counsel on call

Before you call

What a first call with us is like

Short, plain, and it ends with a number.

What happens on the first call?

It is a short conversation, not a billable meeting. You tell us what you are starting, buying or signing. We tell you which of our four jobs it is and email a flat fee the same day.

Will I be billed by the hour?

No. Every job has one fee, written into the engagement letter before work begins. If a job grows, we tell you before it does, and you decide.

What isn’t in the fee?

Charges that someone else sets: the state’s filing fees, escrow or title costs, an appraiser. A lawsuit or hearing is also separate, and we quote it in writing first.

Do I have to drive to Tempe?

No. Video calls and online signing mean an owner anywhere in Arizona can finish the whole job without leaving the shop.

Tempe, and the rest of the state

Our office is on Mill Avenue. Most of our meetings aren’t.

We keep a small office downtown, and most owners never see it. We meet on video, mark up drafts together on a shared screen and send everything to sign online, so a customer in Yuma gets the same lawyer a customer in Tempe does.

After every meeting you get a short note of what was decided and what happens next. You keep that lawyer until the job is done.

Owners on what changed after the call

“I was about to sign a three-year lease as myself. Dagny asked one question about it, and by Friday the company existed and the lease had its name on it.”

Oren A.Owner of a tutoring studio, Chandler

“The seller’s lawyer sent forty pages. Eero told me which six mattered, and what to ask for on each. I understood what I was buying.”

Beckett R.Bought a hardware store, Gilbert

“My monthly plan is a text away. Last week it was a customer’s odd termination clause. I had a plain answer the next morning.”
